Being able to share the file with the client and giving them 24/7 access to essentially your workflow gives the client greater confidence in the work we do for them because they can easily see what's going on. Before clients didn't know the flow of correspondence, motions, discovery, etc that went on in a case. They would get updates when we called, but of course it isn't practicable to call the client or send a letter to say, "Just wanted you to know I sent a letter to opposing counsel." Consequently, clients might spend weeks or even a month not hearing from their lawyer and think nothing was going on. Now they know that's not true. For me personally, it's freed me from my briefcase and lugging files. The only thing I take with me to court now is my iPad. It's very cool. I'm the envy of all my peers. We used many time, billing and management softwares (in upward of $15000 in the last 7 years) through the years and Basecamp for two years, and Clio for the whole last year. We are quite pleased with MyCase, specially with the most recent invoicing upgrade, as I can quickly monitor which client needs to be billed, see my trust account balance and get the pesky client to share and download the documents themselves (a hundred times if they wish), without bothering us and my staff! If, for instance, I wanted to review documents with a client, I would have to locate that client's file, and go through the process of contacting the client, hoping that they are free when I am free, and waiting until that appointment to actually review the document.
